Economy PBL Strobes, just for the heck of it

  1. Someone local had 3 PBL strobes for sale. They were like new and cheap ($150 Canadian for all three) so I picked them up just for the heck of it to lend out and give to the kids for learning and fun with their friends. But dogonnet, these things are a blast to play around with and they're light enough to get away with cheap light duty stands. The shape of the housing and refelctor are perfect for designing a slip-on DIY beauty dish.
Has anyone ever used these? They claim to be "color balanced at 5600k".
I'm looking for economy silver umbrellas now. I usually shrug off the idea of toting around my Nikon or WL strobes to use on a whim. But these are perfect for keeping in the trunk with a couple econo stands and modifiers. You never know when they might prove priceless.
