Egg Money-Tough times on the Prairies

Discussion in 'Landscapes, Architecture, and Cityscapes' started by maraya, Aug 19, 2009.

  1. Was visiting the Bow Valley Ranche today here in Fish Creek Provincial Park...right in the middle of Calgary. This is a picture of a bronze dedicated to the spirit of Prairie Women who made extra money for the farm from the chicken coop. Money was spent to augment the farm income or just to make the tough and harsh conditions of early prairie life a little less daunting.

Hope you enjoy and celebrate the spirit of these tough women in the face of such difficult circumstances.

  2. Well, let's start with the technical comments: Great exposition, Barb! Everything is perfect here - no harsh light, no deep shadows and a great detail everywhere.
But, even more important, the subject and the reason why you decided to frame it and share the image with us - I call it sensibility. Yes, the need to remember others about the recognition about the hard conditions of life some faced (and unfortunately in many places, still keep facing.)
Your image has everything. I´d say that the spirit of the sculptor who built this sculpture was closely followed by the spirit of the photographer that decided to show and share it with others.
    Well done, Barb!
