I have finally got photos of the Hines emerald (Somatochlora hineana) after three years of trying. These shots were taken in Ozaukee county Wisconsin with my D7000 and sigma 150. This is a juvenile male who perched very close to where I was standing while I was watching several others in flight.

That's a beautiful dragonfly, Brian. I never stop being amazed at the varieties!
Thx again Dossy, your are right these are really beautiful dragonflies I hope to get back and find some mature ones when their eyes are emerald green.
