Exif: Cnx & Pse3

I was surprised to find out just how much data is stripped from a file just by opening a file in PSE3 and re-saving at a different compression setting.

Why does Adobe feel the need to butcher the exif data. Does this apply to all flavours of PS or is it just PSE or PSE3?

I also found it odd that the "Color Filter Array Pattern" value changed from 674 to 758 as I would have thought that should be a constant since it should represent the arrangement on the sensor. I know I am wrong as different images from CNX have different values.
