What a shot! If this is the results you get with the 300 f2.8 then it is worth all the $ ( after you get over how many $ that is!)

Got mine about 6 months ago. Incredible. I was on a "Wait List" @ B&H to be emailed when their shipment arrived. It took about 4 months!
Really tough holding onto that much $$$$ with her asking EVERY day if I reeeeealy needed that lense. Leaving Kitchen remodelling magazines lying around.....
OMG...... but I got it. (still same kitchen btw)

...and another handheld at 1:250 @ f/5.6 ISO 400 handheld with the same D800 + 300 f/2.8 VR II + TC20-E III ! Shot from my living-room window... but the tripod was at work !

But of course, I prefer to shoot at f/7.1 minimum... it does make a little difference in sharpness, IMHO !
