I have tried to make a few trips out and about. Last week I spotted some fledgling barn swallows and decided to wait for feeding time. Lots of trials and errors involved. But, I came a way with a few keepers. All with the D7100 and 500mm f/4 AF-S II.

Thank you, Karen. It seems all that commented liked #1 so I will post another taken at about that same time. Let me know if you have a preference.
Great set!
These are very tough to shoot birds.
Thanks, Alex. You sure got that right. I was able to shoot with pretty high shutter speeds and the wing motion is still blurred.
Wow, Aaron! #1 is terrifically good, and #s 5 and 6 are making my neck hurt just thinking about all of the swiveling that you must have needed in order to capture these.
Thanks, Eric. I got really lucky and found the perfect birds. The background is actually water. I found these youngsters on a snag over a lake and was able to shoot slightly down on them so it was surprisingly easy.
Aaron, you got yourself some winners here. 1, 5, and 6 are awesome.
Thanks a lot, Troy. I am posting another begging shot. Let me know which you like best.

I like the first one, bird is more in focus compared to the second begging image. I would have liked the second more if the right eye is more visible. Good series, nonetheless.

Superb, great work all around...!

Just love the comp of that first one...!

Edit:

And that new one too...!
Thanks, William. The D7100 gives you enough pixels to play around with your crop.

Thanks, Troy. I see what you mean about the eye. Dang, I just missed it.
Very well done, these are tuff birds to get good shots of. But your last shot is just terrific.
Thanks, Louie. I admit I was a bit giddy when I viewed them on the LCD. But, I learned quickly that the D7100 LCD tends to make shots look real good. So, it was a relief to see some keepers when I viewed them on the computer.
Really nice set. Good job.
Thanks a lot, Dan.
Wow, these are great Aaron!
Thank you, Anthony.
