Week 12 - Coffin Bay South Australia

Coffin Bay was named by Matthew Flinders in 1802 after his friend Sir Isaac Coffin a Rear Admiral in the British Royal Navy. The area has significant cultural importance for the Barngarla Aboriginal people with many archaelogical sites and artifacts found in the region.

Coffin Bay is famous for its Oyster Farms producing the world’s best Pacific oysters.

2. The white stone around Coffin Bay is quartzite. In particular a type of quartzite called “Coffin Bay” that is prized for its white colour and textured appearance.

And a stunning set. Really a beautiful place.
