Top-notch photos, Bob. They look just like the ones coming to our feeders, which are primarily female ruby-throated hummers.
Thanks Jim. I realize now that they are female ruby throated. They just looked so much like a different bird from the males.
Ruby-throat hummer don't make it as far west as us. But we should have seen the belligerent Rufous a couple of weeks ago. Probably lining up for a D6 portrait session with Bob!
I'm ready...just hope I can recognized them when they come:)
Those are wonderful photos. I've had a feeder out all summer with only a couple of sightings. I keep changing the food, but no luck.
It wasn't until I cleaned out the feeder really well and gave them fresh feed every 3 days that they started showing up again
