The term, financier, used as a type of dessert muffin is brand new to me. These financiers were made using a Cook's Illustrated recipe that arrived in my mailbox just two days ago.
Setup
The tabletop is beige presentation paper. Two small continuous-light lamps, one on each side, fitted with diffusion socks were very close to the scene. A white reflector behind the scene was leaning toward the front at a 45-degree angle. Those light modifiers and the close proximity of the lamps to the scene created extremely soft shadows that otherwise might have competed with the cooling rack. I thought I was going to be able to get everything in focus using just one capture, but that wasn't possible. So, I focus-stacked six captures using a CamRanger Mini.
