The call came over the scanner at 7:15 PM, that a tire store was on fire.
Crews from 3 county stations were called in.
Since there was still enough daylight left, I loaded my gear and we headed across town.
On the way, we monitored the frequency and heard that the F.D. was beginning to close roads, so we stopped at an industrial park where I took this photo.

The trees and power lines were in the way so DH said he thought we could get closer via a county road and come up behind the fire.
He did good, the road hadn’t been closed.
The deputy allowed me to set up at the intersection, but not to get any closer, so I had to work around sign post and vehicles.
We are in drought conditions with winds, dry fuel and red flag warnings, so keeping the surrounding rural grass and pastures from catching fire was also a concern for the fire fighters.
Despite the aggressive attack on the structure and its contents, the roof quickly collapsed and the Dept had decided that they would just
allow the remaining materials to burn while maintaining an offensive, and working on the hot spots.

Arson is suspected and the fire is now under investigation.
The next morning, I emailed the local newspaper;
Photo #3 was on the front page, above the fold, in color,
Photos #2, #4 and #7 were on the second page.
No one was injured, the fire was contained, although the building was destroyed.
These were taken with a Nikon D50, a Nikon 70-300mm lens and monopod.
