This was my first attempt at Track a few weeks ago. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. My grandson who is shown crossing the finish line in the 800 meters is a sophomore. The nearest contender behind him is a senior who just received a full scholarship to UCLA. I think my grandson has many more good years ahead of him. In this event he broke his school record as well as the current record at the team they were visiting. Not bad for a sophomore who still has a lot to learn. This is his first year of Track competition.

I submitted the photo to our local paper and they published it in the story below:

Well, the client wanted an event shot (no heros)

Sort of turns some of our opinions upside down..

Congratulations and good luck to your grandson.

Ugh track. Most difficult sport for me to shoot. Not for getting good images, but the paper I shot for. They always used 2 track photos to go along with the story, and I was required to get first place finishes if possible, a boy and a girl, and one from both schools if they were both from the coverage area. Not to mention chasing someone down to get the names so I could ID the participant in my captions.
