Tim: Way to go in getting the Noct. :biggrin. Enought with this test business. Get out there and capture some Near dark capture's. Can you post some candids in dark room/. Street capture with bright lights in back ground. And people capture's wide open at the closest focusing distance. The Nikkor 58 1.2 is next on my list.

  3. congrats on the lens...
where did you find one, if i can ask?

i can't wait to see many more pictures

    good luck

  4. I bought it....uggghh...on fleabay. It's about a mid-production AIS lens with a pin point nick on the barrel. I paid in the mid-lower end of the going rate and was the only bidder. It's still danged expensive, but I'm pretty sure the Noct is probably way down on the list of primes to upgrade so why not? I can sell it in a minute for what I paid.
By far my largest risk on the bay and so far I'm quite happy, my seller was great to deal with.
Hopefully this weekend I can get out with it in the evening. Maybe go down to the State Fair on Saturday or Sunday night.

Congrats on the acquisition! That 2nd image is dreamy

  6. Well, portraits at minimum focus distance might be a bit much...it focuses to 17 inches or so...
Some candids in the office today, all at f1.2

    Nice, kitty!

    I love that shot.

I hope s/he didn't get into the Patron.

  11. Thanks...checking the EXIF, my cats at f1.4...  I think I did hit the focus, the shutter speed was 1/20th, probably a touch of shake.

Tim: Great shots. It's hard to tell but I bet that room where you work is really dark. I perfect situation to test the Noct in. Love the black cat, I want to see more. Have you had a chance to shoot at night outside. Thanks for showing us some samples. By the way do yoiu use a hood when you shoot. If so what one?
