First Outing with D2X - Horse Racing Meeting

Discussion in 'Miscellany' started by Luckynp, Aug 28, 2005.

  1. First time out with the D2X. The event was Cartmel Races, a race meeting in a beautiful small market town in the English Lake District. A very nice family atmosphere with a fun fair and many market stalls as well as the racing. I know I've got a long way to go with the camera, but I really enjoyed my first outing with it.

Love the horse race shots Mike!

Very nicely done. So, how's the get acquainted affair with your d2x going now?
  3. Thanks Steve.

I've been through the whole gamut of emotions with it.

    1 Euphoria

2 Terror - I'd been expecting it to be like stepping out of a family car into a Ferrari. Imagine my panic when an F15 arrived.

3 Rational thought - I sat down with the manual and the camera and worked though the main sections.

4 Joy and infatuation. What an amazing tool. First impressions are that auto white balance (which I never used on the D70) seems to do a very good job most of the time, and that the colour straight out of the camera seems much richer.

Thom Hogan's ebook has just arrived and I'm off out to shoot some aircraft.

Great colour Mike, really enjoyed those.
  5. Thanks Rob. I'm particularly fond of the orange and black colours, as I backed it and it won.
