First shots with my new Bees!

Discussion in 'People' started by Mitchell, Jul 17, 2008.

  1. Finally broke down and bought two Alien Bees. My family is all out of town so I had nobody to play with!:frown:

First shot right out of the box.

Then tried a more traditional headshot using one umbrella and the fill just with the AB reflector. No need for a hair light.

These are going to be fun when my family gets home!

    Mitch - Congrats !!

I am getting real close to ordering some AB's also .ALready have the AB triggers. Although I will mostly use mine to light a gym. But willl use them for portraits as well.

Not bad for the first time. I look forward to more shots !

Love the box shot ! And I can relate to the hairlight thing
  5. These are AB800 in mellow yellow. I bought them from Blake here on the Cafe.

#1 would be really cool if you cropped out the box.

Then you would lose the "out of the box" reference.

  8. Thanks, Rod. Glad somebody got it!

Both the shots are really good. I like the first one.
  11. I LOVE the box!!!!!!!!!!

Please promise me this doesn't mean "no more garage shots!!"  I look forward to seeing your shots with those beautiful children of yours.

  12. No chance of that, Gretchen. The garage is the closest thing I have to my own "style".
  13. Oh phew!!! I do love those shots. And even now with our new over-sized garage bays, I still don't think I could ever shoot those (too much background ) . Your kids' kids will really treasure your garage shots one day!!
