After seeing so many good baseball shots on this forum I had to go a try it for myself, after all, just how hard can it be? (that I need to practice with my new 300 f/2.8, thanks Jbear). Well I found out pretty fast just how hard it really is as my meager results prove, but a good time was had none the less.

You have a fine series of images here Brooks. I like the action that you caught and they are presented tightly and clearly. Very nice shooting.

very well done Brooks. Was the ump really pointing @ you? What was his beef?
Thanx Chris, actually he was pointing out that spot I was shooting from was in play, bark was worse than his bite

Thanks Frank, while shooting I was thinking of the great shots put up by you and the other usual suspects, long way to go to meet that standard

My favorite is #2. Great intensity.
Thanx Wendy

Ya done good Brooks. Give Soccer a try too!
Thanx Wilbur, soccer is my fav and I can't wait for the season to start

They look jsut fine. well done!!!
Thankx, need to work on the PP a little though

Very nice congrats on your new purchase, these are a very nice series Brooks
Thanx Mike, what a differnce it makes from the 80-200, a whole new learning curve to master

Very nice Brooks. Enjoy the new lens
Thanx Alex, so far I love it

Very very nice Brooks.
What is the story behind the ump in #4? Are you in trouble?
What are your thoughts of the 300? Focus speed and so on.
Thanks.
Thanx Otter, the ump was telling me to move if a foul pop came my way. As far as the lens is concerned at times I felt as if I could not keep up with it swinging it from third to first etc, but I got a little better as the day went on. Also I learned how and when to use the focus lock buttons, very helpful when properly used. Focusing speed very good, weight is an issue, seems pretty sharp at f/2.8, it will be awesome for track.
