First Time Baseball

  1. I went to watch the local baseball team play, and brought the camera along (D50) With my 80-200 and a 1.4x teleconvertor, Thinking it would be enough reach. Turns out it really wasn't. All these shots are through a fence because, past the fence was much too far away to bother taking pics (except for first or third base).

It was a late game aswell, so I had to crank the ISO in order to keep the shutter speeds high enough (After like the 4th inning)

Heres a few of my fav's from the game.

The next batter up certainly did a good job of blocking all the action.

  2. Nice pics under difficult conditions....I also shoot night baseball with a d50 and the 80-200 and know what you are up against. Seems to me you did very well for a first effort.

As for reach, I agree that the 1.4x is marginal...i've just taken delivery on a 2x kenko which I hope I can use for the first inning or two. I'll post on it here after I get a bit of exerience with it.
  3. Nice work you have here. Great job capturing the action. Keep on posting!
