Shot my first night football game with the D3 and I'm in love. The light at this field was not that good, but I was really impressed with this camera. ISO ranged from 1600 to 10,000. Most shot with 300mm at f4 with 1.4x or at 2.8 without converter. Pictures heavily cropped and there has been no noise cleanup in pp. Not 100% satisfied with the tones but otherwise very happy with the results.

  2. Ron, some great stuff. I shot my first night football with my D300 tonight. Liked the results, although would love to be able to afford a D3. The D3 ISO 6400 looks like the D300 ISO 3200. Also I am amazed at how much detail is left in the ISO 10000, granted it is a low res web image.

Will be posting my images shortly.

  3. Unreal, that camera has crazy high ISO clarity.

  4. Great work Ron, glad to see they turned out so nice!

    And...
    Go Gulliver!

(for those of you who don't know, I'm Gulliver Prep Class of 2007 )

Thanks for looking. There is a lot of detail even at 10000, and you are correct in that the origianl files do look better than the low res ones. I am looking forward to seeing your D300 shots.

Thanks Phil, it does have great clarity.

Harrison, thanks for the 30 minute crash course before the game, it was very helpful. BTW Gulliver crushed the other team. We have a great team this year with 2-3 guys being courted by division 1 schools.

Thanks Mark. I'll post a couple of action shots. For some reason parents haven't bought action shots as much as the isolated shots, so I tend to concentrate more on these type of shots.

Thanks Mathew, that D3 is already paying dividends. Already received over $700 in orders from that one game which I wouldn't have even tried shooting last year.

I am my marketing department, this amount is unusual and inflated by a particular parent who order 4 13X19 prints of her son. I am a little concerned about how the quality will turn out on a couple of them at that size. I will have to refund her and give her the prints for free if I'm not 100% satisfied with the results.
