I got my new (used) D2H today and shot my first hockey game with it tonight. I have done a quick run though of the shots and I am very impressed. Talk about fast... Wow.. During one of the intermissions I shot with one of my D70's and it was so slow.. it felt like a go-chart without the motor compared to the D2H. I will post some pictures later today...
Hey Dave! I have been following this since you were even thinking of getting that camera in the for sale section. It is a screaming fast, accurate machine! I am anxious to see your shots. Sometimes I wish I had never sold mine. Dave
Ok here is a sequence of 11 pictures from last night. I really didn't do much in the way of PP, cropped about 30%, auto leveled (Which I have come to hate, but wanted some fast for now), sharpened with the CS2 Smart Sharpen, and resized for web. Some of the shots are not the best but others with some work will be very cool. Notice the puck by the goalies stick? Now for the rebound shot... For my first time out with the camera, I really am pleased with it.
Congrats on the new gear. The D2H is, and always will be, one fine piece of equipment. It, along with Canon's 1D, is the best-buy on the used market. I've just done some 11x14's from my D2H cropped down to 2.5-3 MP for framing for my office. Resize to 11x14 at 300 pixels per inch and the output is gorgeous.
Whoooooohoooo SCORE Great shots. I am so glad you got that camera for sports. Great choice. Well done. would love a D2H as well..
Dave, Pretty amazing sequence. I can tell you had it on continuous high for the score shot because of how long it took the puck to hit the ice, very nice work. Sorry about the wrong team and all, but very happy for you! Dave
Yeah 8FPS is very cool... That took all of about 2 seconds or. I see in Capture you can set it for different FPS, I think might slow it down to 6 or so.
right, and remember that 8fps at 1/1000th of a second is not covering very much of that second. timing is everything. your timing was excellent in this series.
