First try at birds

  1. Bit out of my field here as I mainly shoot macro and close ups but with the wind blowing I was in need of a different subject matter. Desperate for something to shoot, I ventured to the nature reserve and the
only thing I could find in range was these Mallards.

One thing trying to 'bird' with the 300mm soon makes me realise that for all but the larger birds it's not gonna be long enough. I kinda knew that anyway but was hoping that I could set some shots up in the garden and around feeders. There was someone there with a lovely 200-400 vr lens which looked very nice but it also costs £3000+, ouch! I think I will keep trying, if nothing else it's a good challenge.

    Cheers

It takes a little more work and patience but you can do very well with that lens. The images look nice and sharp!

  3. Thanks Andy. I know I have a lot to learn.
