Flash bracket on lens for wildlife

Just ordered a SB700 to use with my 300mm for birds in darker places and at night. I'd like to use the better beamer, and attach the whole thing to the lens with a flash bracket so it's elevated above the camera (not next to it as I have seen many L shaped brackets do). I do not use a tripod.

What options are there? I have only seen very expensive (e.g. $200) ones but thought there might be something more economical out there. Many thanks in advance from this flash noob
