flower/black ground

What were your settings? And did you use a tripod? Also, what was your lighting?

The reason I ask is that the flowers are out of focus (or is that how you wanted it?). Red against black can be striking, but I think I would try this one again (FWIW, I have a lot of trouble shooting reds. Either I wash out the color or my lighting is horribly wrong... :redface:).

i was using a tamron 180 macro, D7000 on a tripod with a remote, i focused it and switched it to manual focus and put a sb700 flash on remote and shot on the side of the flower. Now that i look closer i can reallly tell its out of focus.

I like shooting flowers against black backgrounds. And I too have problems with red coming out too saturated.

I like the composition and negative space.

Will you shoot an update?
