Flyfishing fun

A bit unconventional
Catfish with a capital C
In the James river today using my new Orvis Helios 9 Weight and 200 depth charge sinking line, an articulated Eel pattern and caught these monsters. Over 300 lbs of fish in 5 hours!!! Some really intense 15-20 minute battles.
I am spent....

Congrats! Nice fish, the cats always put up a good fight. It's gotta be difficult casting holding the rod with you mouth, doesn't your neck get tired?:biggrin:

she has always wanted to take up fly fishing
our neighbors own the ORVIS store in Crystal River.... a bit north of here
she stops in there whenever she can... salivating at all the paraphernalia

great shots
amazing amount of fish
i bet you will sleep great tonight

Thanks Alan! Actually I need to have the rod replaced after today. The cork handle had issues. Thankfully my Orvis rep was there with me. He was using a 6 weight

Oh man, I'll take my catfish FRIED! with lots of tarter sauce! Great catches! Who did the shootin? Jennifer? Don't think I've seen catfish that big either! Did ya fry any of them? Absolutely awsome catches! I wouldn't have a clue as to how or where to do that! Glad you had fun - it shows in your face!

Permit,Bonefish & Tarpon on a flyrod. It doesnt get any better.

OK Dave, now that you have caught some real big fish how about getting back to photography :biggrin: I am glad you are having a great time doing what you wanted to do for so long. We will wait for your pictures when you get tired of fishing.
