    This is about as much as I would crop a photo and as close as my lens will Auto focus, or kind of the two extremes.

    More importantly that lens has great resolving power. I had a Sigma 50-500 that was completely useless at the long end.

    It is a little soft out there but the duck was on the other side of the swamp (~50yards) in shadows. It was just a excersise to get a feel for the lens probably not very scientific but I kind of know where not to take a picture.
  7. I think you will find Gary that the first photo being further away will have a greater DOF than on being close enough to be a FF photo. Also were they both taken at the same F stop?
