Two years ago my son and I were in Belgium, eating well, drinking well, and learning well. The food was fantastic. So in honor of Bart and his wife, Marion, whom we met up with, I made a big batch of Carbonnade à la Flamande (Flemish Beef Stew) to help ward of the unseasonal cold we have up here. This classic Belgian beef stew is known for its sweet-sour combination of well caramelized onions, well browned beef chunks and Belgian beer, slow cooked to perfection.
A excellent Gigondas accompanied the meal, which also included buttered carrots and home-made egg noodles.

I didn't know that you were also a cook Nick. The meal looks delicious. I like all of the images, the last one needs straightening a bit though.
