Found me a woodpecker hole!

  1. I found a woodpecker condo in a dead palm tree not far from my house. There's a couple with one apartment for living quarters and two more wholes for food storage. They come and go filling it with berries, nuts and occasionally bringing grubs (I suppose there may be chicks inside which I have not seen).

These were shot wit my 70-300 and a monopod. I have to come back with my tripod. The lens is soft at 300mm so these will have to do until I can afford better glass.

#8 and the couple together (male on the left)

More of the set at my gallery.

You have found a spot where I would camp out if I were you. Excellent series and I'm looking forward to seeing the growing family images!
  5. Number seven is nice and sharp. Interesting series. I have these birds on my property, but not a clue where they nest.

Can't wait to see the babies and parents bringing food.
  6. Good find Alex and great photos.
