Frog Close Up

Discussion in 'Macro, Flowers, Insects, and Greenery' started by PLPhoto, Aug 4, 2008.

  1. Finally caught a frog while fishing in a local swamp this weekend. I've been meaning to catch one for a portrait session.

He said this was his good side.

D200, Nikkor 105mm + Nikon PN-11 Bounced White Lightning and a second bounced on camera SB-800.

Great shot. I think I can see from the reflection that it is handheld.

Awesome - two portraits in one (see frogs eye)
  11. Excellent frog potrait, Phil!

  12. Thanks guys!
  13. Outstanding

Great portrait. I can see you in the reflection, I can see your camera, I can see your arm...

Did you take froggy inside for your portrait session? It looks like the flash was bounced off a wall, based on the reflection in froggy's eye.

  14. Yes, I shot it inside, which was quite difficult at first. After the first few flash bursts I think it temporarily blinded him so he stopped jumping out of the box.

And yes, I bounced both light sources.
  15. <private moment> I can never resist kissing a frog.
  16. Very very nice capture, the pic and the frog.
  17. I did kiss him, hoping he'd turn into a D3...as you can tell from my gear list, it didn't work:confused: :frown:

    Thanks Glenn and Tom!
  18. What a beauty! I used to catch those all the time as a kid! I just loved my froggies.
