Frogs! No this is not the wrong gallery...

    Seems frog pictures have been popular lately so I thought I would post a few of my own. Only thing is when I think of "frog" this is what comes to my mind. Yes these are frogs. The frog is the intersection of the running rails in a turnout and must allow for the flanged wheel to pass over. Look at the pics and see if you can figure out why they call them frogs...

    This is a special frog with a movable point to improve the high speed ride quality.

    This one is spring loaded and the wheel pushes the closed rail over as it crosses.

  2. I see frogs! The tracks look like elongated frogs with their legs stretched out before and behind them. Oh, and I see four frogs in the last picture. :biggrin:

    I had seen your thread when I was at work but missed it when I got home. Your pics are awesome. At least someone else knows what a frog really is...
