The one called Big Red hasn't been seen by my friends in a while. I have been shooting this bird since 2008. There is another one (with some white on wings and perhaps smaller) in the area. Here are a few images from this morning.

Nice lighting and excellent action, Allan. The bird didn't pick the most favorable BG for you.

We take what we can get.

Very, very nice, Allan! These birds are so fascinating..... Number 3 reminds of a dancer's positions. I also enjoy seeing the mergansers in there, too! These look a little different from the hooded guys who are still hanging around my lake....
Both types are here in Florida but I haven't sen hooded on the west coast.

Sure brings back memories, great series
Ft D has far fewer birds than 12 years ago. Some days there are very few but yesterday was OK.
