I've found myself wanting to shoot at f/1.4 or f/1.8 a lot lately, and on a bright day, that sucks. So if you can get what you want by making adjustments, do it! Take the ISO to LO 1.0, and take the shutter speed to 1/8000. Then stop that 35 or 50 you've got and set them at f/1.8 and let the good times roll.
