I got a new (to me) Nikon Z 50mm f/1.8S on Monday but was stymied in trying it out by three days of constant rain. The clouds finally broke today so my wife and I made a long walking loop through town for me to test it at the garden of good friends plus the Hahn Horticulture garden on the VT campus.

First, the friends' garden.

Gorgeous compositions. Enjoy the new lens!

Would you have noticed a difference if you had taken the photos using your 24-70 lens at the 50mm focal length (other than that one of the photos was taken at f/3.2)?
Thanks, Mike. Your question about the lens is a good one since I had asked that question of the community before I bought the lens.

During our three straight rainy days I tried to do some tests indoors by photographing the same subject with both lenses at 50mm. Those tests were inconclusive, so I didn't expect much difference in practice.

But while processing these images this afternoon I began to realize that I was seeing something "special" which I can't describe in words. I hesitate to ascribe it to the lens yet. I'll be doing more testing.
