GBH catching minnow

Got to the river a bit late this morning, so the light was already hot. When I saw this heron I almost ignored it - backlit in bright sun, a long stalk to get close, and the birds are not acclimated to people at this spot so they launch at the slightest disturbance. But I decided to take it as a challenge to compensate for the variables in front of me. I even brought my camera manual with me and did some reading between forward creeps. It was a good way to spend an hour!

200-400VR, ISO 200, f4, 1/800 except for the last one at 1/1000.

I'm surprised how "deep" the GBH had to go to get the minnow! Maybe more go deep but it happens so quickly you just don't notice it. Well time and an excellent series!
