GBH with fish

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Jim Strathearn, Apr 4, 2007.

  1. Stopped by a local pond on the way home this morning and found the resident GBH feeding. I have seen him/her several times, but never while hunting. These guys are quick! I would have him in the viewfinder waiting for him to strike, and by the time he did and came back up with a fish, it was too late for me to react. I then machine gunned him trying to get a flip! I give a lot of credit to those who capture the flip... It's hard! My feeble OOF attempt is at the bottom of this post...

Does this qualify for a flip? At 8fps, the fish was already completely in the mouth and not visible in the very next frame!

Nicely capture on the first. Does the D2H AF with the TC16a + 500P?
  3. Thanks Jason.

Yes, all four AF systems work with the TC16a. The amount of focusing w/the 500 is pretty much a fine tune adjust, but it makes all the difference for me.
  4. Very Nice Jim

Nice capture! Even though they are quite common they are still beautigul birds!

Good capture Jim and that's a definite Reznick Flip.

Nice shooting Jim, I'd be proud to have captured that flip.

They sure are fast Jim! Excellent series..its reassuring to know I am not the only one who misses flips at 8fps:biggrin:
  16. LOL! I'd fill the buffer trying to anticipate the flip and still miss it!

    Thanks for looking!
