Went searching for an owl and got roped in with this contraption.

Shot handheld at 700mm using the 500/4 + 1.4x TC + D800 @ f/5.6

It's a good way to build a "shock absorber" into a rope lift. Keeps the rope from snapping under shock loads.

Of course, it's quite the redneck approach.
Ingenious, functional, available, cheap.

Great picture.

The heck with the swing, but cool shot and curios. I sure lust over that wood pile. Drove to Nova Scotia 2010, saw some wood piles 150 feet long, but of course these were soft wood low BTU wood. Still a lot of work. My wood pile is lacking this year

That does make sense since you mention it. I do like the woodpile and wish I had it. My pile is small, which is fine as we just burn wood in the fireplace for ambiance, it gets too damn hot in our house as it is really well insulated. We usually have to open a window when we burn wood.
