I went for a walk-about with the Nikon 1 V2 on a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VRII. Found this Giant Swallowtail and made some photos.

You need a Nikon FT1 adapter.

I often use the Nikon 1 V2 when I want to have a light weight hand held system for an outing. I use a Nikon D800E on a tripod if I plan on making photos for printing or publication.

As someone said, you need the FT-1 ! .....but mind you: you will have a 500x2.7 = 1350 mm. combo in you hands , so you'll need a real STURDY tripod, even though you can use the VR !
