My family is in a grab-bag for christmas and the person that is buying for me is driving me nuts for a list.

So here is my idea. Maybe we could share little items (under $75) that we just love and would recommend to others. Give your ideas of what I am living without, and should not be. A link would be nice to the item.

Don't be shy, I would love to hear what you think.

  2. for you ron....
    Think about a Mcbeath card!
Once you have one you will wonder how you did without it.
  3. Get a Lightsphere II (or PJ) light diffuser from Gary Fong. Great little gadget.

  4. The (XO-3) is also one of the best "Light Painting" lights you can buy... so having it in your camera bag is even a better idea...

Beggars can't be choosers!!! I am always agreeable to receiving gifts, especially if it's camera stuff
  8. Yes, I've suspected as much.....gotta' add that to the list of cool things to try in my in-short-supply free time.

BTW, what is the Kelvin temp of the typical "white" LED????
They appear very warm to me.

    Will this help?:

This site http://www.ledtronics.com/ds/s3126/ says that their White LED's give 8000 Kelvin

    Here's another web site:

Percentage of Total LED Count for Various Shades of White When Red LEDs Get 30 mA and Green and Blue LEDs Get 20 mA
The red LED count can be reduced by about 1/3 if the red ones get 30 mA while the green and blue ones get 20 mA:

  11. I bought several lenspens as small gifts to my friends.
  12. I second the idea of LensPen. For a D2 camera (which you have), you can also look for the DK-17M eyepiece magnifier; it is somewhat hard to find: I just got mine yesterday and I think I am going to like it!. How about some graduated ND filters for the difficult light situations in landscape photography?

I have the eyepiece on order from B & H. I am just waiting for them to get them in stock and ship. I ordered it when someone here said that B & H had them in stock. Unfortunately there inventory was a little off and they could not ship it. So I am waiting, so far it has been 3-weeks.

And a bit of follow-up from yesterday.

Actually, just after my post yesterday I went to the local, once monthly, gun show where all sorts of toys are to be had.

    I bought an Inova T3.
Solid bar stock aluminum machined. Neat.

    Light painting, here I come.

$50....amazingly bright for an LED and ??? very kelvin hot ???? 8000K perhaps.

If you use the 70-200 most of the time why bother removing it? This bag allows it to be carried in situ. Tamrac Zoom 9.

I have to ask for this as that white haired geriatric old so and so keeps forgetting my bike!
