Girls Varsity Soccer

Discussion in 'Sports Photography' started by Aqualung, Sep 11, 2008.

  1. It was a beautiful fall day here today and I was itching to get out and shoot; my daughter's GFs are on the Varsity team so I stopped by to get some shots for her.

Game started @ 5PM...shadows started to creep in towards the end...Beat 'em 5-0.

Went back to Standard PC, started in Manual, switched to AP. D300 & Siggy 120-300, TC1.4 on some. EXIF intact, C&C welcome...

  2. Looking good Chris, although maybe a little WB change on 7 + 8.

Also I'll be out your way Wed and Thursday, Golf both days so should be done somewhat early. Anything at home FH wise?

  3. thanks Geoff. Little too warm? I took it down in #5, but seemed too cool. I tweaked 'em and updated the pics...

All away games next week, but Fri is arch-rival Westboro...

  4. If I didn't need to be inside of 495 for a soccer game and Volleyball I'd probably be there. One of these days:biggrin:

  5. #9 is a work of art. Very, very nice.

  9. Thanks Dennis, lucked into that one!

    Thanks Tim!

Thanks Rod, it was a challenge..

    Thanks Phil!

Thanks Darren. Ah, I've been giving D2X Mode I a try the last few outings...went back to Standard but turned Contrast to 0 as well (used to have it +1).

#9 is my favorite. Two things that always stand out when I see these soccor photos...1. intense facial expressions and 2 the large muscular legs

  13. Shooting in that quality of light is almost cheating, that No. 9 shot is a winner

  14. Yeah, she was intense Tim...

    Thanks very much Greg...

Ha Brad, there are others that were even more built...

LOL Brooks, I'm getting #9 blown up I think...

Chris, I like everything about this set. Great light, composition, cropping, etc. I love #3, of course! somewhere, I have a similar photo of two boys playing soccer that looks similarly like they are doing the tango too. Funny shot.

I have an affinity for different lighting, so I love #9 too. All of them are worth hanging up on a wall. Really, if I had negative or constructive criticism, I'd give it. I love all of them. Great job!

Our high schools here play girls soccer in the spring, only the boys play in the fall. Thought that was interesting.

  19. Thanks Mitch!

Tim, LOL, I'll have to do some work!

thanks very much Glenn! Hmmm, maybe a sports challenge idea?

That is interesting, that they alternate. Must save wear & tear on the fields?
