Circa 2004..... Co worker brought in some Gladiolas that she wanted me to photograph for her father. I liked the graphic element and the colors of this single stem. We placed the stem in a short glass vase and set it on the forward edge of a fold up chair next to the knee to ceiling windows but just behind a column thereby blocking direct light. Took a small 2'x 2' black piece of foam core and placed it behind the vase against the chair back. We moved the vase and flower just to the point that it was not receiving direct light. Instead we got a nice soft wrap.

That is beautiful John. Very well done!

Mike thanks...probably the 1st time I really saw how light could wrap a subject. Made use of this in the future in shooting portraits in and around buildings, parking decks, etc. Didn't need to be in direct sun just as long as I could get that wrap.
