Hello and thanks in advance for your input. My wife and I are going to Africa for her 50th birthday this year, and I need some advice. Our trip is going to be a climb up Kilimanjaro, then heading to either Uganda/Rwanda for a trek to see the mountain gorillas, followed by three days of relaxation on Mafia island (Sadly for me, there will be no big game drives on this trip). I want to keep the things as simple as and light as possible.

My current kit includes: D-300, 12-14 Nikon f/4, 28-75 f/2.8, Tamron, 80-200 Nikon f/2.8, Nikon 50 f/1.8

Questions that come to mind are:
1. D300 v. D700 for high iso shots on the gorilla trek? (I could rent a D700 and leave the D300 at home.)
2. Suggestions for a light weight, flexible kit: I do have some budget to add some glass.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Tough call foe the camera. D300 gives the extra reach which is great for the game drives. D700 gives the hi iso which you may need for the darker jungle/forest.

I would included to go with what you have.

Uganda great an you can do queen Elizabeth park which is down south.
