I've been trying to find the HK-4 hood for my 28 1.4 but can't find it.

Anyone know where to get it? I"d appreciate that information.

One recommended by Nikon is hardly worth the trouble..

    Thanks much,

    Gaye

    Hi Paul,
I've been on their list for that backordered lens hood since last summer. It's not looking good about finding it... but please keep your eyes out and if you run across it I'll jump.

    Thanks very much!

    Scott,
Thanks for that tip..good idea but I already got the hood for the 28 1.4..

Paul, Thanks for you tip about the Lowepro 1W. I just ordered it because I've been needing a case for that lens and this would be perfect.

So now I've got it all covered thanks to ya'll. (still a Texan  )

  11. This may be a dumb question but how necessary is a hood for a 28mm f1.4.

Would this not be a lens used mostley for indoor or low light shots?

I was thinking that if you were taking a photo outside in sunny light more often than not, wouldn't it likely be with one of the walk about lenses. I could see an argument for just using the 28mm as a walk about lens and needing a hood if that was the only lens you had, but does this really happen very often? I see that most people who have the 28mm 1.4 also have a 28-70 or 17-55.
