    YAY!!

i love the coating color glows red

I've used 35mm f/2, 50mm f/1.8 on D40 before, the focusing ring is just not comparable to these, way toooo good, and easy to MF too.
the build quality is also very nice compare to Nikon lower end primes. (I've never owned a AF-S prime, so can't compare)

the bokeh is pretty amazing on this lens, though i wouldn't rate it as "creamy", but just personal opinion.

i found it's a little soft wide open, but still usable for my taste.

here are some bad samples i took after i got my lens yesterday.
hopefully more to come this weekend

    very nice Mike ...congrats...;-)

  3. The Voigtlander is a lovely lens! I had a sharp copy of the Nikkor 50/1.8 and the Nokton was sharper at every aperture...

I also had a Nikkor 50/1.2 AI-S to compare, and again the Voigtlander turned out to be sharper - even at 1.4. The 50/1.2 has smoother bokeh at 1.4, but at f/2 and down I prefer the Voigtlander bokeh. I ended up selling my 50/1.2 as well

Now I just need more time to take photos...

    Cheers

    Mike

Pretty amazing piece of glass you got there. I have had the 40 f/2 in my cart several times and never went through with the sale. I like it for the size/performance for the FM2n.

  5. Nice lens. I would like to see more. I am considering it.

I'm still learning how to focus well with this lens.
i've seen many "soft" photos by this lens, but i personally think it's mainly due to focusing problems.
with its depth of field, if you mis-focused a little bit, the subject would be blurry already..
so i have to focus DEAD ON

this is a good lens for low light condition in my opinion... (at lease among all the lenses i own..)
but i just can't use it properly yet...
need to learn some focusing skills
if you think the pictures are bad, it's cuz i can't use it right.... :frown:

i think some photos does look a bit soft...
and it does suffer from some purple fringing problem
but after re-sizing them, it's harder to tell (isn't that always the case? haha)

  7. post some more! :)

  8. Cool! Its a nice lens, a bit soft wide open at a distance, performs better upclose imo.

this lens is really sharp from f/2 and on IMO
and for f/1.4, you just gotta focus right since the DOF is so shallow....

  10. nice shots
    congrats on the lens
a very nice hunk of glass

can't wait to see many more images
