Great Blue Heron and Great Egret

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Jerry Green, Jul 25, 2007.

  1. Nikon D200 and 200-400 mm VR with a 2X teleconverter.

The Great Blue Heron and Great Egret were feeding side by side. They were trying to intimidate each other and fusing over the feeding space.

  3. Nice captures with the 2X.

The Snowy looks like the Great Egrets we have here.

  4. I agree with Phil - all the Snowy Egrets I've seen have yellow feet and the juvies have yellow and black socks and black beak.

Yours looks like a Great White Egret

  5. You are correct, it is a Great Egret. I looked it up in the Sibley bird book. I should have paid more attention to the legs and feet.
