Great Blue Heron

  1. A tranquil picture of a GBH at the park by my house. The lake was very still that day but he's standing at the top of a man made rapids that drains into a swamp. There's a little foot bridge that spans this rapids and gets you about 15-20ft from the birds. It's a great place to go.

Very good shot Kevin. We have been fortunate (at least until recently) to have one of these guys at the local pond, and he got so habituated that you could get to within 20-25 feet without bothering him at all. I probably have 1,000 shots of him that I got following him around as he fished the edges of the pond.

I haven't seen our guy in over a month. I sure hope he comes back. I'm getting tired of just honkers and quackers.

  3. Kevin this is portrait quality no doubt about it. Well composed image.

  4. Thank you Gordon for the very nice compliment. I really appreciate it!

Frank, I know what you mean about getting tired of taking pics of certain birds. Even though I only borrowed the S2 for about a month, I got more than my fill of Ahninga shots. They just don't seem to be bothered by having their pics taken.

I'm getting antsy for the end of the month.
