Great Western Railroad

[Baywing]

The Black River and Western RR relettered their #60 locomotive to the Great Western RR of the 50's and 60's. They put out a mixed train, freight and passenger cars, for the photo charter which stopped at several locations along the line. We shot most of the afternoon and into the night. It was the first time I joined a group like this and it was worth time, money and effort.

Very nice images Baywing. I'm loving #1, I'm partial to B&W for old iron engines. All are very good.

Thanks. The trestle shot took the most effort to get to the shooting location. It was at the bottom of a steep grade which took us farther up the tracks for a lesser slope and thus thru a marshy area loaded with deer ticks. I was told that the area was loaded with ticks this year, maybe a by-product of the super storm Sandy last year.
Chuck, I agree, there is something about old steam engines that seems to beg a good B&W treatment.

First off, I want to say that these are really nice photos! And secondly, I'm so glad to see #60 operable and steaming down the rails again. She's been out of service for a long time.
