Such a beautiful and uncommon bird!

Where did you find it?

The magnificent Green Peafowl (which hail originally from Burma and southeast Asia), can be quite aggressive and are difficult to keep so they are rarely seen.

Notice how the crest goes across the head on the Greens while it runs for and aft on the Blues.

One will more commonly see the Indian Blue peafowl which are able to withstand cold temperatures, are usually good-tempered and are fun and easy to keep.

I kept them (always free-range) for some 50 years both in England and here in NY State but sadly a Great Horned Owl snatched my last one off the chimney (where he was sleeping) and I no longer have any.
I miss them!

I reckoned that it was a Male too —probably a young one?
If you return to the Zoo in the Spring, he may be starting to grow his train when he will be even more splendid!
