Very nice Hawky Ben. I'm amazed at how close you got. I'm really trying to get the most out of my 300 / 1.7 too. It's such a good combo on paper, but I keep getting the feeling that it isn't quite as sharp as the 1.4. My results could just be lack of camera stability due to my shaky hands though. These look pretty sharp.
  10. Ben this is just another one of your many, many great series. Boy these guys sure do blend in with the surroundings don't they. When I was watching the short eared owls yesterday, I really noticed how hard it would be for any prey to see them. Also a great test for any camera's af system.

    Hi Frank
You know lately the Raptors have not been to spooky, don't really know why but I'm not going to complain.
As far as the combo goes well your right it's not as sharp, but it's workable.
Your work looks great. I can't see any lose of sharpness, I sure wish I had the 300 F2.8. With my F4 you really have to use support. Of course if we both had 500mm this reply would be academic, but then we'd used the TC for even more reach !!!
  17. Very nice series as usual Ben.

    And Happy Belated Birthday!
