This is my firend who is a guitar instructor, I am trying to learn how to use my flashes.
In tribute to Joe Hoddinott, I think I used slow synch (front?) instead of rear synch, but I love the result.

    Interesting effect.

I'd like to have seen the blokes face though.

  4. What's with the white balance.... or is it an intentional effect?

I really like the 2nd shot, and did some adjustments to it to how it would look without the blue cast. Hope you don't mind.

    Frank,
    Thanks for your comments.
The blue cast was due to a blue gel on the flash hitting the back wall. Since every wall int he room is white, it gets bounced around into everything I am sure.
Personally I liked it because i felt it made him look more like he was playing in a club than sitting in his living room.

My dad also thinks the blue cast sucks though, maybe I will run a set correcting it as you did for my friend to see which he prefers. My first shot is still a tad too blue, but I will work on it.

Good job correcting the WB on a JPEG Frank btw, I never tried that.

My dad's point was that his skin color looks better with a white or reddish cast, and I think he is right (and so are you!)

Anyway the modified images wowed pop, who now wants to know more about shooting RAW instead of with JPEG, so that's good. Maybe he wants to buy a D2H for $4500...
