Today I did a bicycle round through Haarlem:

1: Mill along the river 'Het Spaarne'

2: Clock in the main Cathedral: St. Bavo, which was first mentioned anno 1245.
(Sorry I have no more pics now, some tourist festival was there and way to busy!) This clock is from 1520.

6: Some building in the center. In the text you can see the building is from 1609, and was symbolyzed by the phrase ' inde Toelast', which means 'in the very, very big barrel of wine'.

All done with the D700, 24-70 F2.8, no tripod. Excuses for the sometimes bad light; it was around noon and horrible harsh light to work with.

Hi Rob
Nice pictures, for some reason I like nr 10, i dont know if you highlighted the centre, but the lighting is great.
I am getting in the mood, cauce next weekend I will be in Enkhuizen, a great old small town about the same age as Haarlem, be sure that I will take many pictures.
Thanks for sharing

Great series, Rob. Looks pretty different from the Harlem I'm used to... :)

Thanks Klaus Peter. But I'm sure you would love to walk a day or so in the old (did I mention there are buildings standing built in ~1300?) center, visit the Cathedral, take a beer on a terrace etc etc!

Beautiful series
You've captured very fun and unique architectural details
I don't think I've ever seen architectural elements used to make a 2D rendering of pictorial perspective, like in nos. 6 & 10
Love them!

You made me miss Holland, Rob! Fantastic bunch of pics turning difficult to choose one. Perhaps I prefer # 4 and 5.
It´s amazing how "distorted" yet solid the buildings over there are!

Thanks Rui. It would be nice to see you sometimes over here. But I know there are some practical problems at the moment...
