I really like these little guys. We see a lot of them on Prince William Sound in May/early June. These were shot in spring of 2019.

1) They love to sit on offshore rocks.

Well I'd say that you found the mother lode, beautiful shots Dan.
Every year we go to that same bay during the last week of May/first week of June and there are always a bunch of them in there. On there way north.

True through they do tend to be a bit camera shy.
Wow. I have never seen a group of more than 6. Nice ones.
In every one of these shots there were at least twice as many birds as show in the image. Just couldn't get them all in there. I cropped several out of the flight shot for composition plus they were in weird positions.
