Head or Tail

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Phil K, Apr 30, 2007.

  1. I always want to capture some good directly head on in flight shots but the birds don't want to cooperate. Looking back at my collection this past winters, I can only find several, and none are real good. Better examples :

    NIKON D2X    ---    500mm    f/6.3    1/1000s    ISO 200

    NIKON D2X    ---    500mm    f/6.7    1/500s    ISO 200

But it seems that I have a lot more of birds flying away showing me the tails.

    NIKON D2X    ---    500mm    f/6.3    1/400s    ISO 200

    NIKON D2X    ---    500mm    f/7.1    1/1000s    ISO 200

    NIKON D2X    ---    500mm    f/5.6    1/1000s    ISO 320

    NIKON D2X    ---    500mm    f/5.6    1/1250s    ISO 320

And this guy even dared to show me some white stuff.

    FinePix S5Pro    ---    500mm    f/5.6    1/500s    ISO 200

Please feel free to add your head or tail shots to this thread.
  2. Aahhh, the curse of the butt shot.

Here's a peacock that snubbed me a while back.

  10. Aiii, you're morphing into a regular birder Phil - very nice!!!
If you end up finding that you don't really use your Ai-S 58mm f/1.2 anymore, just send it my way (I'll pay for postage)...
  11. Thanks Jen. That's a beautiful backside.

    Thank you very much Gale.

Thanks Sam. Yes, I have some Kite shots but none are sharp, as they never come near when I have a camera.  I am working on it and will post once I get a good one.
  12. Thank you very much Louie. I appreciate that.

Thanks a lot Yvette. I am also happy with that one and it's taken with the S5 Pro in the first week I had the camera.

    Thanks Hunter. Beautiful shots.
  13. Gary, do share some with us when you have time.

Thanks Panos. And there are many that I didn't nail it.

Thanks Frits, for the comment and the reminder. The Noct is happily sitting in my bag, being used once in a while and not gathering dust.
  14. Nice shots Phil. Love the "head on's", I always blow those!
