Heffalumps in Kruger National Park

Discussion in 'Other Animals' started by johnaalex, Aug 18, 2009.

  1. Seeing these beautiful creatures in a zoo is one thing, but being in touching distance of a wild herd with only the walls of a car to protect you is quite awe inspiring. On our first trip into Kruger we saw two herds close up, here are some of the shots.

This is what I have been waiting for!!!

Great stuff, John. More nice ones on your flickr as well.

    Keep em coming!

  4. Nice shots John.

  5. Wow. Must have been an amazing sight for you. Cool shots.

  6. Don't worry Mike there is a lot more to come , problem was that our game lodge had no connection with the outside world at all, let alone a high speed DSL link for uploading photos.

Oh yes I have about another 150 shots to do final processing on...

Thanks to The Keither, Art and Alexf for your comments.

  7. Very nice. I look forward to seeing the rest of them!

    Mike

    wonderful photos john!
what part of the park were in? we go to lower sabie and shingwedzi every year and these don't look like shingwedzi elephants because they seem pretty calm with you taking their pictures especially since there was a very young one with them. elephants are amazing aren't they and no matter how many times i go i am still in awe of these majestic creatures.

  9. Thank you! These shots were taken around the south of the park, near Crocodile River.

  10. I'm assuming the name you gave them originated from a smaller member of your group ?
    I think I was 5 the last time I was there .

  11. No - just my childish sense of humour
